Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 4:00PM We produced, directed, shot, and posted this new video for L.A.-based band Whitley Heights. The song is called "California Sunshine". We shot it in Napa Valley with a 2 man crew and a Canon 60D with some L-Series Canon glass. Low-fi. All in. Check out the band's website at:

Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 7:07PM "The Big Fix," eco-horror doc I shot and Cannes 2011 Official Selection, premiers in L.A. to sold out shows and standing ovations. It was very cool to see people so deeply moved. More about the film at www.thebigfixmovie.com

Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 12:07AM Camera Operator on Travel Channel's "Hidden City" for Atlanta-based Crazy Legs Productions. Pristine beauty up there.

Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 1:50AM Camera Operated for a segment of HBO's "Real Sports" featuring tennis legend John McEnroe. DP was Oliver Fitzgerald.

Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 4:04PM Camera Operated in New Orleans on Travel Channel's new show "Hidden City," which follows crime writer Marcus Sakey as he explores some of the city's darker sides. We shot in some interesting places and met with some polarizing people. Below is a shot I took on Canal and Bourbon.

One person in particular that really struck me was Malik Rahim, co-founder of Common Ground. When asked what his thoughts were regarding a specific murderer who killed numerous "innocent people" in the 70's, he replied (and I paraphrase): "as long as there are kids riding around in SUV's partying, while other kids on the streets are struggling to eat, there are no innocent people." Food for thought.
Friday, August 19, 2011 at 6:51PM Shot a promo for designer Paige Denim with Director/Photographer Justin Coit. We shot it at Siren Studios in Los Angeles.

Friday, August 12, 2011 at 5:11PM I went up to San Francisco to shoot final elements for the upcoming documentary "Freedom." This particular shoot covered the alternative fuel company "Propel," who runs biodiesel and FlexFuel (E85) through their gas pumps. Below is a screen-grab of the CEO holding a vile of their product - ethanol.

Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 11:37PM San Francisco-based digital media publisher Future US hired me to shoot a series of segments for their Sony Playstation Qore campaign. With the popular E3 Convention as our backdrop, we shot at Notion Studios on Hope St., whose variety of cycs and flats enabled us to capture a wide range of looks. The spots featured on-screen gaming femmes Veronica Belmont and Audrey Clio, as well as some of the world's top gaming developers and producers. The finished segments will stream on Playstation devices around the world.

Friday, April 29, 2011 at 9:51PM "The Big Fix," a feature documentary I shot between 2010 - 2011, is an Official Selection at Cannes Film Festival. Very exciting news. It premiers May 17th in Nice, France. Peter Fonda is the Executive Producer. Directed by Josh Tickell and Rebbeca Harrell Tickell. More to come...

Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 10:39AM Short film "Write of Passage" is an official selection to Dances With Films. Written and directed by Brad Jones. We shot it on a Red One with Zeiss Super Speeds, and worked with All Sets producer/designer Nick Plotquin and his great crew, who created some pretty cool production design.
Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 10:00AM "Camp Chuck," the one hour special on FMX riders Chuck Carrothers, Derrick Cook, Jack Rowe, and Javier "Astro Boy" Villegas, gets international distribution through Los Angeles-based Shankly Productions. It will be airing in HD all over Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Director: Marc Salomon. DP: Justin Ostensen. I was the 2nd Unit DP/A-Camera Operator, as well as Co-Producer. We shot it on two Red One cameras with Zeiss Ultra Primes.
Monday, March 28, 2011 at 10:43PM DP'd for Play Network's coverage of South By Southwest down in Austin, TX. Lit up the popular venue "The Speakeasy" with a truckload of parcans. It was a bit of a dance with the stage crew, but the local crew and L.A. crew rocked. Shot a bunch of really cool bands, including Vanity Theft, Electric Touch, Sick of Sarah, The Bengals, and James Vincent McMorrow - one of my favorites from the week. I took this photo of him after a brief interview. His website: http://www.jamesvmcmorrow.com

Friday, January 28, 2011 at 2:28AM Spent the last few weeks finishing up principle photography on the oil spill documentary tentatively called "Spill." It was a long haul spanning the entire East Coast. We shot some great stuff and interviewed some intriguing people, including politico Newt Gingrich, actor and activist Peter Fonda, and author Chris Hedges. Below are some frame grabs from our b-roll elements shoot as well as the Louisiana capitol building. For the macro elements we used the Canon 100mm Macro f/2.8.
Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 12:57PM Shot a long form commercial with New Orleans ad/production house Robert Berning Productions and Director Trey Berning. The shoot was a blast. And a challenge. Talking beer bottles, a bunch of non-actors, and a killer crew. We used the Canon 5D - which allowed us to get low and to mount to almost anything - in aims to bring the beer bottle's perspective to the audience.

Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 11:24PM Interviewed Deepak Chopra as part of the documentary tentatively called "Spill." He had some heavy things to say about the state of things. One thought that stuck with me was (and I paraphrase) "If the insects died tomorrow, life on Earth would be dead in five years. If the humans died tomorrow, all life on Earth would flourish."
Friday, November 26, 2010 at 9:31PM Spent fourteen crazed days in South Dakota, Washington D.C., Iowa, New York, Maryland, and Vermont for the East Coast phase of feature doc tentatively titled "Spill." The trip entailed shooting a former CIA Director, former National Security Advisor under Reagan, an EPA whistle-blower, countless Senators, Congressmen, farmers, and a few good old regular people, too...not to mention being questioned by the Secret Service.
James Woolsey, Former Head of CIA
Monday, November 1, 2010 at 11:24PM I recently had the pleasure of doing a short piece on underground street photographer and friend Ariel Sinson. This guy is the truth. His eye is special.
We followed him and his camera around downtown Los Angeles as he waited for his moments. One of the main challenges of the shoot was attempting to capture him as he captured something happening. I had to patiently anticipate his moves. He was like a predator stalking his prey. He moved quietly through the streets, waiting until the right subject moved into the right light doing the right thing. Then he snapped the photo. And hopefully I was rolling.
These are photos he took of me while hoisting the beastly 400mm Canon f/2.8 prime (I'm honored). We couldn't travel with a tripod - as we were moving light and fast - so I used this L.A. Times newspaper machine instead. We opted for longer lenses to allow for a sense of voyeurism. Ironically, I have no photos of him except for the footage that is currently being assembled in post.
